NEW MODEL ARMY RIFLES AND CARBINES Description

.50 cal. Spencer, rimfire, 7 shot, 30 in. round barrel, block front sight and folding leaf rear sight with 1,000 yard center notch, military blue finish barrel, marked "NM" at breech end, case hardened barrel band, receiver, sideplate, hammer, breech block, lever and buttplate, smooth walnut straight grip buttstock and forearm, oil-finished, three barrel bands and forend cap, sling swivels on center band and stock.

In their final year of production, 1868, the Spencer Repeating Rifle Company produced approx. 1,000 Army rifles and 5,000 carbines. These were intended for private domestic or foreign military sales.
