TYPE I CARCANO RIFLE Description
6.5x50SR Arisaka cal., Italian Carcano style bolt action, 31 in. barrel, 5 shot internal box mag., adj. rear v-notch style ladder sight, fixed non-shrouded front blade sight, full length wooden stock, short length upper handguard, bottom mounted sling swivels, metal buttplate, finger grooves on forearm, knurled toggle safety located just behind the bolt handle, blued finish. Mfg. 1938-1941.
The nomenclature is not "Type 1" but rather the letter "I" for "Italian".
These rifles lacked any Japanese markings, including the Chrysanthemum.
These rifles also came in two different lengths of pull, one nearly identical to the Type 38 rifle, and one approximately 1 in. longer.
