Simeon North (born in Berlin, CT on July 13, 1765, died in 1852) was an important manufacturer of U.S. Military pistols, starting with the Model 1799 (as North & Cheney), and the following models: 1808 Navy, 1810/11 Army, 1811 & 1811 Transitional, 1813 Army, 1813 Navy, 1816 Army, 1819 Army, and 1826 Army/Navy. North also made the following U.S. Military Longarms models: 1817 "Common Rifle", 1819 Breech Loader Rifle, 1833 Breech Loader Carbine, 1836 Rifled Carbine, 1840 Carbine, and the 1843 Carbine. The 1833, 1836, 1842, and 1843 Models were Hall Patent designs, and are alternately known as "Hall-North" models. North built a larger plant in Middletown, and in 1813, placed his son Reuben in charge of the Berlin shop, which lasted until 1843.
